Shortwave Radio can be fun too , Radio shack has some decent entry level radios ,sound quality is not as good as FM , sometimes it sounds as good as AM but mostly it fades in and out and interference is normal.
some shortwave radios have a sideband where you can hear Ham Radio operators.
