“Will you give this to my Daddy”?
***This is from an E-Mail that was forwarded to me.**
…I was in the Airport in Atlanta. I watched, as 30 to 40 Marines calmly walked by. The people around, stopped and applauded. And the Soldiers quietly acknowledged the gesture.
…I little girl, steps out from her Mother. And approaches a young Marine. He stops and kneels to hear her question.
“Will you give this to my Daddy?” she politely asked.
The Soldier pauses long enough, to have the young 7 Year-old, reach up and give him the biggest hug possible.
… The crowd, around me, was left in stunned silence. The mother of Little Courtney, approached the Marine as he rose to his feet. She then tells the Marine that her husband had been in Iraq for 11 Months. And that her Daughter was missing him very badly.
…As the Soldier stepped away, he grabbed his Radio, and began talking to someone on the other end. But then paused, and walked back to where Courtney and her mother stood.
The Soldier knelt in front of Courtney and tells her, “I have a message, from your Father. he then, gives the little girl a gentle hug.
.. With tears in his eyes. He stands and gives Courtney and her mother a salute. And calmly walks back to his Unit.
Our Military are People. Who wanna complete the Mission.
..Can you wear red tomorrow in support of them? And can you tell your Congressman to allow them to finish what they volunteered to do?
ritsymom: It’s a mystery how a Level One Person can understand this. And have others, **** Our President so much. As to act like they don’t. Who ever you are? Thank you very much!!

Where’s the rest of the story??
what happened? was he about to deliver bad news or was he gonna let little Courtney talk to her father?
Thanks for sharing that. I will be wearing red, white, and blue.
wow. very heartfelt.
This brought a touch of home. I will be wearing red tomorrow.
People need to be respectful of postings like this. Our troops are not stupid. They wear the uniforms that represent our country. They are the brave ones who choose to protect our freedom.
The least people could do is show some honor and respect for service members and their families for the sacrifices they have to make.
I will definitely wear red tomorrow. This is an issue that closely hits home for me. Both my brother and cousin are in their second tour of Iraq. They may not always agree with being away from family, etc. But you can bet if you ask them why they are there, and if they support it; you can bet your last dollar they do.
I’ve already let my congresspeople know that I would like them to finish what they voluteered to do – by coming home today.
If I cared about my children I wouldn’t go over and kill myself or anyone else for something I have nothing to do with or any control of.
This isn’t new but if it did originate from a email there’s a very large plagiarist out there. I read this exact same story word for word on a web page written by a Vietnam vet that joined the Hells Angels, he said he witnessed this firsthand.
I can’t quite remember the URL although someone out there should be able to.

Little Courtney asked the soldier to give her Daddy a hug for her. Her (Courtney) and her mother were waiting for his arrival at the airport. The soldier called someone and came backa and gave Courtney a hug. As if it was received from her Daddy
It took me some time,
to answer this question,
because I sat here crying,
for quite a while.
I see this picture in my head, and I can’t let it go.
Some great man did a favor, for a little girl, who doesn’t know.
I can’t finish what I tried to begin, Buzz. I wanted to write a poem to show the beauty of a soldier, and their kindness and love towards their own people, but I am too emotional now, to finish.
This, your story is what American soldiers ARE, but so many are blind to it. That, is the saddest thing.
I am going to write that poem, and post it when I am done, but it may take some time. It will be just another small tribute to our blessed soldier’s.
Thank you so much for sharing that story, Our Military families are as brave as their loved ones on the front line, It saddens me to think Courtney could be exposed to the liberal propaganda engulfing our Country in a time of war. Politicians like Reid and Pelosi are hell bent on gaining power in Washington, The price they are willing to pay includes not giving Courtney’s dad the tools that he needs to fight this war and finish the mission, As half of our Country is falling pray to power hungry Politicians, that leaves the other half to fight twice as hard for our Country and for Courtney’s dad, we are living in some very hard and dangerous times, some would like to believe the war on terror is just a figment of ones imagination, and therefor can not process the fact that jihadist want to kill each and every one of us, including little seven year old Courtney. I will honor your request and wear red, I will also continue to keep our military men and women and their families in my prayers.
You Rock…I’m saluting you as we speak…that was a beautiful and inspiring story, and I will be wearing red tomorrow!!!
I support our troops and our president for all that they are trying to accomplish. I believe that if anyone can win this, it’s our boy’s and girl’s!! They not only have the skill but most importantly they have the HEART!
Great story however very far fetched, Your comm would never reach from an airport stateside to the sandbox (Iraq) and be able to get him on the horn right away but good story whoever came up with it.
Thanks for showing your Support we appreciate it!
Thank you Buzz. Most people don’t realize that this actually happened. Just like they don’t realize that our soldiers really do believe in what they are doing. They are fighting for our very existence. The enemy doesn’t want us to give up. They don’t want to dominate us. They just want us dead. If we leave the job unfinished in Iraq, the ordinary citizen will have to do the fighting right in our own backyards. Believe me people if we leave Iraq, that is a very real scenario. And for Mr. McFrugal, I don’t see your sorry **** in ANY uniform, US or enemy. And you do appear to be an enemy. How does it feel living in a country where you can say whatever you please without fear of retaliation. But then you probably hide under a rock when you’re not spouting anti American BS anyway. Hats off to you Buzz. God bless.
I am with you and will pass this on to my friends so they can do the same. Yes lets show how much “WE” suport and appreciate the hard work our Patriotic Soldiers are doing.
Below Here is a portion of an Article by a Soldier on why we must continue. It is a very well written and thought out letter.
“Marine Reservist Owen West Op-Ed article argues in support of troop surge in Iraq.
WHEN the civilian hierarchy fails them, soldiers tend to seek solace in Clausewitz’s observation that war is an extension of politics. But in 2005 and 2006 the reverse was true in Iraq: the battle churned in place, steadily eroding the administration’s credibility and America’s psyche, while most politicians stood on the sidelines, content to hurl insults at one another until the battlefield offered a clear political course.
What was most remarkable, however, was the military’s inability to grab the reins and articulate a realistic war plan for Iraq. At home, recruiting, supply and deployment crises were solved; but in Iraq the generals continued to offer assessments of the fight that were as obviously inaccurate as those trumpeted by the politicians. The goal was to put Iraqi forces in the lead, but as a consequence, large-scale battlefield adaptation was scarce.
Today the civil-military relationship has righted itself, yet soldiers like me who believe that Iraq can be stabilized face a bitter irony. On one hand, the military is finally making meaningful adjustments to the complex fight. On the other, the politicians are finally asserting themselves. The tragedy is that the two groups are going in opposite directions.
Most Americans who have served side by side with Iraqi units, especially those of us who have been advisers to Iraqi companies and battalions, believe that significant numbers of our soldiers will be needed in Iraq for another decade. This timeline is about average for a classic insurgency, and optimistic for one so muddied by tribal feuds and religious hatred.
American soldiers in Iraq are constantly asked about our commitment to a fight we started. Most of the advisers I got to know during my most recent tour, which ended in February, were quick to try to assuage their Iraqi counterparts’ concerns and dismissive of the calls for withdrawal by American politicians, news of which trickled onto the battlefield during the winter. After all, the surge itself would not be fully under way until mid-summer. Surely the politicians would give it a chance to work.
The two Congressional votes last week establishing timelines for withdrawing American troops completely undermined such assurances. The confusion stems from an inherent contradiction in our politics: Though the burden of war is shouldered by few, the majority of Americans want to vacate Iraq, and the percentages are increasing. Something has to give.
We’re four years into a global conflict that will span generations, fighting virulent ideologues obsessed with expansion. It’s time for those who are against the war in Iraq to consider the probable military consequences of withdrawal. But it is also time for supporters of the war to step back and recognize that public opinion in great part dictates our martial options.
It’s hard for a soldier like me to reconcile a political jab like Senator Harry Reid’s “this war is lost, and this surge is not accomplishing anything” when it’s made in front of a banner that reads “Support Our Troops.” But the politician’s job is different from the soldier’s. Mr. Reid’s belief — that the best way to support the troops is by acknowledging defeat and pulling them out of Iraq — is likely shared by a large slice of the population, which gives it legitimacy. – Marine Reservist Owen West “
****CLUE IN******
The soldier didn’t really talk to anyone in Iraq on the radio, he made a show to make the little girl think he did and then gave her what he knew would make her really happy, even if it was made up, it wasn’t a lie, Daddy was somewhere wishing he could give her a hug. Its even possible that soldier had a child of his own somewhere he wished he could hug. He showed a lot of heart in doing that for that little girl.
Buzz….I always knew you had a BIG heart…but this just proves it to me.
I have found myself in a similar situation (waiting on family to return from war) without my son (it was too late for him to be up)..but every serviceman and woman….from me…..got a huge hug and a thank you, regardless if I knew them or not!
Maybe some of you should do it too…if you find yourself in the presence of American troops.
That was good Buzz————some people are missing the whole connection here——whether the Marine actually talked to the little girls father or notis completely irrelevant——-the point is the Marine cared enough to touch the life of a little girl and give her a hug for daddy———–he did not have to actually talk to her daddy to give her the hug she needed.——–Buzz——you and xenypoo ROCK———–Thanks for sharing this poignant story.
First of all let me start out by saying that I am appalled at some of the answers on here. How anyone can disrespect our military, I’ll never know.
Thank you Buzzard. You are a true Patriot. I love that story.
I saw this a few months ago….how anyone can undermine the message it sends is what I cannot understand. So, big deal if the soldier didn’t ‘really’ call the dad….if Courtney thinks he did … good job Marine!!!!
Even if, per chance the whole email were found to be in error…so what. Just the thought that we know there are children out there waiting for their dads and moms, should be enough to give us all pause. These children are innocent victims of a war way beyond their control.
When you read something like this story it makes you so proud to be an American and even more proud of the military that is fighting to keep us safe. God Bless them.
To the people who do not appreciate the sacrifices that these brave people make on our behalf…you have a place waiting for you in hell…and hell is what those soldiers are protecting you from here on earth.
God Bless them one and all and Thank God for them!
Crazy GOOD!
While this may be a story to some……I live 5 miles from Fort Hood, TX and this happens EVERYDAY. There is always someone doing SOMETHING for a family, a soldier a survivor!
Thanks for this!
Always have and Always will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
